Maria Luisa Bombal
Maria Luisa Bombal (1910-1980) was a Chilean writer, novelist, short story writer, and essayist. Upon publication of first novel, La ultima niebla (The final mist), she was acknowledged as one of the leading members of the avant-garde literary movement. She wrote numerous other novels, essays, and short stories. Her work shows conservative feminist ideology prevalent among upper-class Latin Americans in the 1930s and 1940s.
