Mary Cassatt

Mary Cassatt (1844-1926), full name Mary Stevenson Cassatt, was an American artist, painter, and printmaker. She attended Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, but left to study in Paris. She exhibited her works in Paris under name May Stevenson (1872-73). After being invited by Degas, she joined impressionists (1877), but left impressionists with Degas in 1882. Her works became more formal. She continued to work until developed cataracts in both eyes (1912).
