Mecca

Mecca is the birthplace of Mahomet, the Holy City and Keblah of the Moslems, formerly the capital of Hedjaz, now the capital of Mecca province in the Hejaz region, and the 'true capital' of Arabia. It is situated in the midst of sandy valleys, and 60 miles distant from Jeddah, its port. It is a city to which every true Mussulman must make a pilgrimage once in his life.
