MENADO

MENADO is city in Indonesia. It is situated in the N. of Celebes. It is the capital city of the North Sulawesi province.

It was formerly a Dutch colony. The Japanese captured it in the Battle of Manado in January 1942. It became part of Indonesia in 1945 when independence of the country is declared. However, it was acknowledged in 1949 by the Netherlands.
