Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE)

A colourless, flammable, liquid oxygenated hydrocarbon ((CH₃)₃COCH₃) that contains 18.15 percent oxygen and has a boiling point of 55.2 degrees Celsius. It is a fuel oxygenate produced by reacting methanol with isobutylene.
