Mohammed Ayub Khan

Mohammed Ayub Khan (1907-1970) was a Pakistani military and political leader. He was the first Pakistani commander-in-chief and field marshal. He forced President Iskander Mirza to place Pakistan under martial law, then exiled Mirza in a bloodless coup. He became president in 1958, stabilized economy and established political autocracy. However, he faced opposition from both left and right, and was forced out of office in 1969, and then martial law reinstated.
