Morigaon district

Morigaon is a district in the state of Assam in India. The district is bounded by the Brahmaputra on the North, Karbi Anglong district on the South, Nagaon District on the East and Kamrup District on the West.

It is spread over an area of 1450.02 sq km. Population as per census 2011 was 957,853. There are 7 community development blocks and 632 villages in the district.

Morigaon became a full fledged district on 29th September 1989, when it was split from Nagaon district.

Crisscrossed with numerous rivers, waterways, beels and marshes, the greater part of the region is an alluvial plain.
