Mrs Ann Radcliffe

Mrs Ann Radcliffe (1764-1823), née WARD, was an English novelist, born in London. She wrote a series of popular works which abound in weird tales and scenes of old castles and gloomy forests, and of which the best known is the "Mysteries of Udolpho".
