Mukteshwar is in Uttarakhand state in India. It is located at an altitude of 2286 mts. It is situated at about 51 kms from Nainital. This famous place of pilgrim and tourism derives its name from an old temple of Lord Shiv, the Mukteshwar. The temple is on the top of a rock. It is also famous for fruit orchards and thick coniferous forest that surrounds the place. There is a research and education institute (IVRI) which was established in 1893 by Britishers.
