Nabil Janabi

Nabil Janabi (20th century) is a Iraqi poet (not a Kurd) known for social criticism and writings against Iraqi government. He objected to Iraqi suppression of Kurdish independence movement. He suffered at the hands of Iraqi government. He was arrested in 1976 for reading a poem to an assembly of Kurds. He was released from jail in 1981, and thereafter he went to London to live.
