!Nagaon district Nagaon is a district in the state of Assam in India. It was also spelled Nowgong by the English people. Its old name was Khagarijan. The district extends between 25° 45' to 26° 45' North Latitudes. North of the district is bounded by Sonitpur district and the Brahmaputra river, south is bounded by West Karbi Anglong and North Cachar Hills, East is bounded by East Karbi Anglong and Golaghat district. Area of the district is 3993 sq km. Population as per census 2011 was 31,169,272. There are three subdivisions, 18 development blocks, and 1396 revenue villages in the district.
