Narayanavanam

Narayanavanam is a town in the Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is situated at about 35 kilometres from Tirupati. The town is surrounded by mountains. It is a fortified town, which used to be the capital of Karvetinagar Suryavanshi kingdom.

The town is known for its ancient statues, which are collectively referred to as Akasha Maharaju Kota. It is also famous for its manufacture of shirts, handloom, lungis and churidhars.

Sri Padmavathi Sametha Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple is located here. According to a tradition, this was the site where Lord Venkateswara Swamy wedded Goddess Padmavathi, who was the daughter of King Akasaraju. It is said that Padmavathi's brother built two temples – one in Tirumala and one in Narayanavanam - while the wedding was going on.

It is a rare site where both Venkateswara Swamy and Padmavathi are enshrined in the same premises.
