Naukuchiya Tal is in Uttarakhand state of India. This lake is located at about 26 kms from Nainital and at a height of 1219 metres. The are of this lake is about 11.35 acres, 3120 feet in length and 2270 feet in width. It derives its name from its nine corners. All the nine corneres are not visible from land. One need to fly above to see all the corners of the lake. However, people do not try to see all the nine corners at a time out of fear of a legend that tells us whoever will see nine corners of this lake will die within a year. It is an important lake for bird watching.
