Nelson Algren

Nelson Algren (1909-81), also Nelson Abraham, born Nelson Ahlgren Abraham, was a novelist of the United States. He in known for his vivid, realistic novels of social protest. He spent his childhood in the slums of Chicago. His major works include Somebody in Boots (1935), The Man with the Golden Arm (1949) and Walk on the Wild Side (1956).
