Nephalometric Turbidity Unit (NTU)
The measure of light penetration in seawater or another liquid used in electronic turbidity meters which corresponds closely to the Jackson Candle, or Jackson Turbidity Unit, because all instruments are calibrated to the equivalent of: 1 mg/L of SiO
2 = 1 NTU.
