Oakham

Oakham is a county town of Rutland, 17 miles East of Leicester, in the centre of a fine wheat country. It has an old church, a grammar-school founded in 1581, and a castle mostly in ruins. There are manufactures of boots and hosiery, and it also carries on malting.
