Ober-Ammergau
Ober-Ammergau, also spelled Oberammergau, is a municipal town in Bavaria in Germany. It is situated at 45 miles South-West of Münich. It was famous even as a village since the Passion Play was instituted here in 1634 in token of gratitude for the abatement of a plague. The Passion Play was being performed there by the peasants, some 500 in number, every ten years, which attracted a great many spectators to the spot. Even now the Passion Play is performed once-a-decade, but in the Passion Play Theater.Nearby pages
