Oldham

Oldham is a city on the Medlock, 7 miles North East of Manchester in England. It had been the largest of the cotton manufacturing towns round that centre, having 300 cotton mills by the beginning of 20th century, and manufactured besides silks, velvets, hats, and machinery. However, it's textile industry greatly suffered in the mid-20th century, and the city's last mill closed in 1998. There is a lyceum, and a school of science and art.
