Panch Kedar is a group of five holy places in Uttarakhand state of India. These are ((Kedarnath)), ((Madmaheshwar)), ((Tungnath)), ((Rudranath)) and ((Kalpeshwar)). According to a legend, Lord Shiv once disappeared from Kedarnath with the intent of not giving any chance to the Pandavas to have a glimpse of him, because he considered them sinner of killing the people of their own family tree. He transformed himself into a buffalo. However, Pandavas recognized him even in this form. Knowing this, Lord Shiv in the form of buffalo ran away form them. Pandavas ran after him and finally caught the tail of the buffalo while it was disappearing under the ground. Pandavas then prayed Lord Shiv and made him appeased. Lord Shiv in the form of buffalo then appeared at various places in parts. Five parts of the buffalo's body appeared in five places in Uttarakhand and these places became the centres of pilgrimage.
