Papharni

Papharni, literally remover of sin, is a holy tank in Banka district of Bihar in India. It is situated at the foot of Mandar Hill.

From the vicinity of the tank three routes lead to the top of the hill. At the foot of the hill there are also a number of dilapidated temples.

In the middle of Papharni Tank, there is Mahavishnu-Mahalaxmi temple.

Several ruins of temples are present here. On the summit of the hill, two Jain Temples are situated. Large number of Jain Pilgrims come here to worship Lord Basupujya. It is believed that this place is Nirvan Bhumi of Basupujya.

On the hill there many kunds (small tanks), like Akash Ganga and Sankh Kund. Sita Kund among these is famous. Sita Kund has been named after goddess Sita as she is believed to have taken bath here .
