Patal Ganga
Patal Ganga is a place of religious important located at about two killometres from Deo in Aurangabad district of Bihar in India. This pond was dug around the beginning of 20th century. It is situated near Bamhauri Hill.It is said that one Gyaninanda, a sage, had come to worship in the Deo Sun Temple. Later, he built a hut at about two killometre away from the temple. People used to go there to pay their respect to him because they believed they got rid of their problems by his grace. They also built there Shiva Temple, Radhakrishna Temple and Hanuman Temple. Once, his disciples suggested that he should live on the bank of Ganga. Hearing this, the sage exclaimed that if they want him to live on the bank of the Holy River Ganga, she would come here! And he hit on earth by his pairs of tong. The water of the Holy Ganga gushed forth immediately. The disciples built there a beautiful pond, which was named Patal Ganga.
It is believed that whoever takes a dip into the pond, gets the benefit of taking a holy dip into the Ganga. People visiting Deo Sun Temple also visit this place.
A Sanskrit school has also been established here which is known as Brahmachari Sanskrit Vidyalaya.
