Penukonda

Penukonda is in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh in India. It was once the capital of the Vijayanagara empire.

The fort of Penukonda was considered as impregnable fort at that time. The fort is known for several things such as "Gagan Mahal" which used to be the Summer resort of the kings, "Babayya Darga", and Kumbhakarna garden.

Kumbhakarna garden is spread over 5 acres. It has a Gigantic statue of the sleeping Kumbhakarna, measuring 142 feet in length and 32 feet in height. It has cavernos belly in which one can walk into. Several asuras are seen trying to wake up the sleeping Gaint.
