Peter Abelard

Peter Abelard (1079-1142) was a theologian and scholastic philosopher of French birth. He is renowned for his dialectic ability and his learning. He made conceivability the test of credibility, and was a great teacher in his day.

He became a well known personality in his lifetime, and became known for his passion and tragic love affair with Héloïse, one of his students, and his misfortunes.
