Pluto is the eights and also nineth planet of out solar system, which depends on its distance from the sun compared to Neptune. (Pluto and Nepture exchange its positions as eighth and nineth planet from the sun in 20 and 228 years). However, Pluto's status as a planet has now become debatable. Some scientists are now claiming that it is only an object in the Kuiper belt. Pluto ha only one satellite or moon. Its diameter is 3,040 kms (1,900 miles). It orbits the sun in 248 years and follows the most elongated and tilted orbit in the solar system. Its average distance from the sun is 5,865.6 million kms (3,666 million miles). It is smallest planet of our solar system. It is likely to be a frozen snowball of water and methane. One of its satellites, Charon, is nearly half of its size. It is because of this it gives an impression of a double planet.
