Policy

A policy is a line of action adopted from other considerations, such as government legislation, to guide and determine present and future decisions. Policies provide an overall plan with general goals.

Policy is also a written or unwritten way of functioning.

It can be thought of as a course or principle of action designed to achieve particular goals or targets. These tend to be broader and less specific than those of the programmes and projects used to implement Policy.

It is also the written contract effecting insurance, or the certificate thereof, by whatever name called, and including all clause, riders, endorsements, and papers attached thereto and made a part thereof.
