Prajapatis

Prajapatis are literally the lords of creatures. There is a debate on how many are there in Hindu mythology. Some say 10, some 11, and some 21. Since Brahma was creator of the universe and all the creatures including the human beings, he is commonly called Prajapati. His sons are 10 in number who are also called Prajapatis. They are Marichi, Atri, Angira, Pulastya, Pulah, Kratu, Vasishtha, and the three Prachetas - Daksh, Bhrigu, and Narad.

Some of the texts of Hindu mythology insist on the first seven were the Prajapatis being identical with the Saptarshis (the seven sages who are there as seven stars) from whom the human beings descended.
