Prince Albert

Prince Albert (1819-61), full name Albert Francis Charles Augustus Emmanuel was the prince of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and consort to Queen Victoria of England. He was the second son of Ernest, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. He was born on Aug. 26, 1819.

Prince Albert was an accomplished man with a handsome presence, who became the consort of Queen Victoria in 1840, and from his prudence and tact was held in the highest honour by the whole community. He died at Windsor of typhoid fever on Dec. 14, 1861, to the unspeakable sorrow of both Queen and country.
