Prussian Saxony

Prussian Saxony was a province of Prussia in Germany, chiefly comprised that part of Saxony added to Prussia in 1815. It was situated in the centre of Prussia, North of the kingdom of Saxony. It was watered by the Elbe and its numerous affluents, and diversified by the Harz Mountains and Thuringian Forest. It contained some of the finest growing land in Prussia. Salt and lignite were valuable products, and copper was also mined. The capital was Magdeburg, and other notable towns were Halle (with its university), Erfurt, &c.
