Radiation

Radiation, in physics, is any high-speed transmission of energy in the form of particles or electromagnetic waves.

The energy transmitted by waves through space or some medium.

There are two types of radiation: ionizing (for example, X-Rays or radiation from a radioactive device), and non-ionizing radiation (for example, infra-red radiation, ultraviolet radiation).

In zoology, an event of rapid cladogenesis, believed to occur under conditions where a new feature permits a lineage to move into a new niche or new habitat, and is then called an adaptive radiation.
