RAJPUTANA

RAJPUTANA, an extensive tract in the state of Rajasthan in India. At one time there were some twenty native states in this region.

The Aravalli Hills traverse the south while the Thar or Great Indian Desert occupies the north and west. Jodhpur is one of the most important towns in the region which was the largest of the native territories, and the Rajputs, a proud and warlike people are the dominant race.
