Ramappa Temple of Palampet in Andhra Pradesh, a state of India, is situated about 40 km north of Warangal. It was built in 1213. It consists of the main shrine dedicated to Shiva with the nandi mandapa in the front. It has a reddish sandstone exterior and projecting eave (the lower edges of the roof) around the building. The shikhara is multi storeyed and made of bricks. Highly polished in black basalt, the pillars consist of mythic beasts or elongated female figures almost life size, cut with great precision.
