Ravan

Ravan in the Hindu mythology was the king of the demons who ruled Lanka. Lanka in now Sri Lanka. Once he carried off Sita, the wife of Râma, to Lanka, which Râma invaded and conquered, slaying his wife's abductor, and bringing her off safe. This story forms the subject of the epic "Râmâyana."
