RICHARD ROLLE HAMPOLE

RICHARD ROLLE HAMPOLE (1290-1349), "the Hermit of Hampole," born at Thornton, Yorkshire; studied at Oxford, and at the age of 19 turned hermit; was the author of "The Pricke of Conscience," a lengthy poem of a religious character.
