Roman Baldorioty de Castro

Roman Baldorioty de Castro (1822-1887) was a Puerto Rican politician. He was a leader of the Autonomist Party (against Spanish colonial rule). He was arrested in 1887 for his views. His health was broken by the imprisonment and died shortly after release. Also known as a social progressive, abolitionist, and educational reformer.
