Samarlakota

Samarlakota is a town located at about 64 kilometres from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh in India. The town is famous for the Sri Chalukya Kumararama Sri Bhimeswaraswamy Temple dedicated to one of the forms of Lord Shiva. The temple is 1200 years old.

This temple's construction began in 892 during the reign of the Chalukyas and was completed in 922 AD. The shivalinga in the temple is made from limestone and stands 14 feet high. The temple is constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture. The construction of the temple has withstood the ravages of time and is still in an outstanding condition.
