Sesame

Sesame is an edible seed and the plat that yields it. Oil is extracted from the seeds. It is also used whole. The plant is tall and herbaceous and is grown annually. It is cultivated for its oil-rich seeds. It grows in tropical and subtropical areas of the Old World including India. Its botanical name is Sesamum indicum, and it belongs to the family Pedaliaceae.
