Shahpur

Shahpur is a village of historical importance in Palamu district of Jharkhand in India. It is situated on the west bank of the Koel river which flows by the side of Daltonganj, now Medini Nagar, the district headquarters of Palamu. One of the Chero Kings Gopal Rai built a palace there at the end of the 18th century. Shahpur stands on a high tract of land. The ruins of the palace, the white temple and the masonry building present can also be seen from Daltonganj.
