Shahpur is in Palamu district of Jharkhand in India. It is a village on the west bank of the Koel river which flows by the side of Daltonganj, the district headquarters of Palamu. Shahpur village is important and it has historical significance. One of the Chero King Gopal Rai built a palace there at the end of the 18th century. Shahpur stands on a high tract of land. The ruins of the palace, the white temple and the masonry building present can also be seen from Daltonganj.
