Sikh is a member of a monotheistic religion called ((Sikhism)). It was founded in the Punjab c1500 by the Guru Nanak. It refuses to recognize the Hindu caste system or the Brahmanical priesthood and forbids magic, idolatry, and pilgrimages. The word Sikh originated from the Sanskrit word Shishya which means disciplle. It is directly derived from Hindi perhaps during 1750 to 1760. However, in some sources the origin of the word dates back from 1781.
