Sriharikota is an island in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is located to the east of Sullurupet in between Pulicat Lake and Bay of Bengal. It is now famous for rocket launching island.

The ancient residents of this island were Toorpu Reddis and Challa Yanadis who led a primitive way of life. This is the pictuare of people who lived there three centuries ago. In order to facilitate the construction of SHAR, all those people of bygone time had been rehabilitated in a little far away area and given special facilities.
