Sucker

In botany, sucker is a shoot that springs at some distance from the main stem or trunk from the root below ground level.

The shoots springing from the base of a plant or a tree, are also sometimes called suckers.

In plants, eg tomato plant, a side shoot from an axillary bud, is also called sucker.
