SUMBAWA

SUMBAWA is one of the Sunda Islands in Indonesia lying between Lombok (W.) and Flores (E.); mountainous and dangerously volcanic; yields rice, tobacco, cotton, &c.

Formerly, it was divided among four native rulers under Dutch authority.
