Sunil Chatterjee

Sunil Chatterjee was a revolutionary freedom fighter of India. He was born on 07.01.1909 at Gangahata, Jaynagar, 24 paraganas, West Bengal. Aghornath Chatterjee, an Advocate at Muzaffarpur, Bihar, was his father. He passed the degree course in chemical engineering from jadavpur University. At an early age of 14, he joined yugantar party. He took active part in bomb making. He organised Garlic murder (27.07.1931), a Judge of Alipore session court, and also Watson shooting. Alfred Watson was editor of the Statesman. He was arrested on 29.09.1932 and the subsequent trial sentenced to transportation for life. He was deported to Andamans jail, where he participated in the second hunger strike. In January 1938, he was repatriated, and released on 31st of August 1946. Hie total jail period was 14 years.
