Tadipatri

Tadipatri, also Tadpatri, is a town in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is located at a distance of 52 km from Anantapur town. It is famous for two sixteenth century Vijayanagara temples - the Sri Chintala Venkata Ramana Swamy Temple and the Sri Bugga Rama Lingeswara Swamy Temple, and its granite industry with about 350 granite factories.

Located on the banks of Pennar river one of the temple is the Ramalingeswara Temple is dedicated to Rama and Sita. It is multistoreyed with pyramidal towers and hemispherical roofs. The other temple, the Venkataramana Temple, is located inside the town. Lord Vishnu is the principal deity here.

A tradition says that both the temples were constructed by two brothers in a single day. Another traditions contradicts this, which says that only Sri Chintala Venkata Ramana Swamy Temple was completed.

The architecture of these temples are influenced by the Vijayanagar architectural style.

At a distance of one kilimetre from the Tadipatri town, over looking the Penna river, the Bugga Ramalingeswara Temple is situated, which is remarkable for a Lingam on a pedestal constantly filled with water from a small spring.
