TENASSERIM

TENASSERIM, the southernmost division of Burma, forms a long coastal strip facing the Bay of Bengal and backed by the mountain barrier of Siam.

It was acquired by the British in 1825. When Burma, now Myanmar, became independent in 1948, the region again became part of Burma.
