The Most Exalted Order of the Star of India was founded in 1861 and enlarged, with the sovereign of British India for head and the viceroy as grand-master, and three different grades of knights, designed severally G.C.S.I., K.C.S.I, and C.S.I., a blue ribbon with white stripes being the badge.
