Thomas Tallis

Thomas Tallis (c. 1515-1585) was an English organist known as "the father of English cathedral music," born in the reign of Henry VIII, and lived well into the reign of Elizabeth. He was probably "a gentleman of the Chapel Royal". He composed various anthems, hymns, Te Deums, etc., including "The Song of the Forty Parts".
