Tulsi, the goddess

Tulsi, according to Indian traditional belief, was a woman fully devoted to her husband.

In some of the stories in the Indian mythologies, she is none but the consort of Vishnu in the form of Lakshmi.

She is worshiped in the form of a plant of the same name which is religiously grown in the courtyards of Hindu household or near temples.

Tulsi, the plant

Tulsi plant is in the family Lamiaceae, a variety of Ocimum tenuiflorum.

This plant is also known as holy basil.

It is used in worship, rituals, and medicines.

It is a wild plant, however, it is also grown for religious or medicinal purposes.
