Umar Ibn-al-Khattab

Umar ibn-al-Khattab (c 581-644) was an Arab Islamic leader and second caliph of Islam. He was founder of Muslim Arab empire and father-in-law of Prophet Muhammad. He is said to have instituted practices as prayers during the month of Ramadan, obligatory pilgrimage (hajj), and the Hijarah (commencement of the Muslim era). He was eventually assassinated.
