Upper Subansiri District
Upper Subansiri is a district in the State of Arunachal Pradesh in India. It is located at latitude between 27°45' - 28°42' North and Longitude 93°18' - 94°36' East. It is bounded in the east by Siang district, partly in the south by Siang district, in the west by Lower Subansiri district, and partly in the south by Lower Subansiri district, and in the north by the Mc Mohan line bordering China.The District was created in the year 1980 in the name of Upper Subansiri.
The district is spread over an area of 7032 sq km. Population as per census 2011 was 83448.
The district is mountainous rugged and difficult terrain. The river Subansiri has intersected the terrain. Snow-caved Mountains ranges of height from 7000ft. to 18000 ft. (above sea level) stand like barrier at north. Most land is barren and inhabitation is scanty. The region is mostly covered by dense forest consisting Aplne, moist temperature tropical pine and temperate evergreen forests in upper, uppler middle, middle and lower region respectively. The district is rich in flora and fauna.
The district has two subdivisions, nine blocks and 551 village out of which 540 are inhabited.
