Vatican is a city state or country in Europe, surrounded by Italy. It is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. It is also called Vatican City. It is spread in an area of about 49 hectares (121 acres), and the name of its currency is euro. It is the world's smallest independent state and a city-state, with a population of 882 in 2024.
